FAT

I have to appologize up front . . . this is going to be a depressing post. Today I stood on a scale for the first time since I had Clarysa. I weigh the same as when I was pregnant with her. I am so frustrated about this because I have been excersizing and eating pretty healthy. I don't know what else to do. It comes on so easily but not off, I am so FRUSTRATED. I just really want to be at a better weight for me but I am sick of feeling like a fat sore thumb with both sides of my family. I am really hoping that within the next few weeks, I can lose some weight. STUPID holidays are coming up and I am going to be very depressed if something doesn't change.

Oh, Callie! I am sorry. I know the feeling. Can I maybe give some suggestions that helped me lose weight? I lost 30 pounds while I was living in Logan, so I know a few tricks. 1. Write down everything you eat. I know, I know - its tedious, I promise it will help. 2. My biggest problem was portion sizing. I would eat healthy, but I would eat huge amounts. Watch for the right portion size. 3. Have healthy snacks available. One of my huge problems is that I get really snacky and hungry in between meals. I have found that it really helps if I have baggies of pre-cut veggies and/or carrot sticks in the fridge, or 94% ff popcorn is a winner for me. Anything that is light and healthy. It really helps me not be so dang hungry at meal times and over eat. 4. If you have to have dessert (like I do!) go for some of the healthier ones...I know, some how they don't taste quite as good, but it seems like they settle the cravings. Like the Light Cow ice cream sandwiches are good, and the weight watcher ice cream chocolate bars are good too.

These are just some of my ideas, I am sorry if you are already doing some of these things and its not working. Just keep at it! :) I am a weight watcher life time, so if you want to know more about that let me know. I love to talk about WW.

I've read a few places lately that everyone, to be healthy, should walk at least 10,000 steps a day. (they don't look at miles, because everyone has a different stride, etc.) There's a way to convert exercise time to steps, too. But I have a little step counter (pedometers work, too), and I'm amazed that I don't walk as much as I should. Even though I exercise 30-60 minutes every day, my steps are way down. So, I've been watching and trying to walk as much as possible (especially before it gets cold). I hear there's some step counters at walmart for pretty cheap ($3-4).

Not that I've ever nursed before, but I have some friends that didn't lose any weight until they stopped. And then my step-sister loses tons while nursing...

Good luck! Keep a positive attitude and still embrace the cold weather for walking--it's one of the best ways to lose weight (drinking skim milk helps with weight loss, too!). Bundle up and take a few walks a day. I'm sure you're kids would love it.

Just blog stalking (saw your comment from TAMN), but I have tried the South Beach Diet and exercise and it really works wonders. Kind of hard to stick to initially, but worth it in the end!
