Budding Artist

Cayten spent HOURS drawing the other day. These are his FIRST drawings he has ever done that aren't just scribbles . . . I love this little guy so much, he is SO sweet, however, you will laugh when you see the picture of me!
A funny story to go along with these pictures:
The entire time he was drawing I thought to myself . . . WOAH, he is drawing with his left hand. Crazy, he must be left handed like my brother . . . I don't want to try and teach a lefty to write, too confusing to write backwards. . . . Then I looked at my hands both in the shape of an L because we all know whatever hand shows the L is the Left hand . . . OMGosh, it was his right hand the ENTIRE time . . . I still don't know left and right and I am 24!

This is a picture of Cayten and Clarysa together. He loves his little sis so much . . . it is fun to see them interact together. I LOVE this stage.

This top and bottom one are toy spiders (so they aren't scary) with LOTs of legs.
This on below is a picture of PIG off of Super Why, one of his favorite shows. He was telling me all about him and he drew the M's and W's that pig does with his hammer.
This one below is of Clarysa. I find it AWESOME that he drew Clarysa smaller than everyone else.
And here is MOMMY . . . As he was drawing his picture of me, I listened as he talked to himself
"here's mommy with a BIG nose" . . . sure enough, he drew me with a big nose . . . I don't think my nose is that big but compared to his little nose it is.
And this one is Daddy. At first daddy only had 2 eyes but then Cayten decided daddy needed LOTS of eyes because "daddy is always finding me" . . . meaning daddy always catches him when he is being naughty unlike mommy!

General Conference

I am getting a post ready about this stupid snow that showed up today, but until then . . . Cris and I read an article in the March Ensign last night about preparing our children for GC. I thought it was impossible for them to have ideas for a three year old, but they didn't miss ANY age groups. A few of the ideas for Cayten's age:
Have a bowl of treats out and any time he hears a word like Temples, Repent, Heavenly Father, or Jesus Christ, he would get one treat.
Take the middle insert with all the Presidency's pictures on it, tape it to the TV and every time the speaker came up, have Cayten try to find him.
Have a picnic while watching and pretend like we are the Nephites listening to King Benjamin.

I thought these were a few GREAT ideas. I hope to always keep a copy of this article so I can refer to it in the future as my kids get older.

Rysa's b-day pics

I asked Cayten to give her a kiss . . . she then kept leaning into him to get him to give her another kiss LOL!

This past weekend Cris and I went on a date to the Draper Temple Open house . . . it was BEAUTIFUL! I guess why wouldn't it be? ALL temples are BEAUTIFUL! I took some pictures. I didn't take my tripod so they might be a bit blurry and they really don't do the building justice. I have a new goal . . . take pictures of EVERY temple I go to. I really hope to get pictures of all of them at night. That is when I feel they are the prettiest. I would rather have the sun setting though . . . not all GONE!

The rest of the weekend we spent at Cris's parents home. His mom just got back from Hawaii and Cayten missed her SO much. He didn't want to leave her and constantly asks when we are going again. I hope we are able to go during spring break for a time!

Today Cris, Cayten, and Clarysa stayed home from church. Both kids have got rotten colds they got from me last week. Poor things . . . the colds have settled mainly in their eyes. Rysa seems to be on the mend but Cayten is just starting.

I substituted in primary today and realized how much I miss being a primary teacher. It has been a really long time but I miss it just the same. The children have such sweet spirits and they never cease to amaze me with how much they know. The lesson was on the Priesthood and each of the children . . . 5-6 year olds, new just what it was and each had a story to tell of a blessing they had received. It was a great experience.
Cris is teaching the temple prep class tonight by himself. I don't think those in the class want us to infect their kids with sickness. Cris just left. It is such a wonderful class. There are 6 lessons but each lesson takes about 2 weeks because we have such wonderful conversations.
I also need to appologize if I don't read your blog. . . if it is private, I don't get updates and I don't know everyone that is private. . . . also do you have problems commenting or does no one read my blog, LOL.
